New Delhi, Feb 27, 2011: The 29th Anniversary of Zomi Christian Fellowship, Delhi held today on which several churches/fellowships, church leaders, pastors and invitees get-together. With the theme ‘Pressing on …” the thanksgiving started with a humble prayer of Mrs. Niang Za Don. The ‘thanksgiving’ was chaired by Shri Hauliankap, secretary, ZCF Delhi. The religious joy began with “Halleluiah!..Halleluiah!…Halleluiah!”
The Zomi Christian Fellowship was established on February 27, 1982 at the residence of (Late) Shri N. Gouzagin in Canning Lane’s MP Quarter. The immortal names Shri V. Dongzathang, chairman, Shri Suakzthang, co-ordinator, Shri H. Vungzamuan, secretary, Ms. Manzam, Ms. Pari, Ms. Chingpi and Shri Ginlienlal were the torch-bearers of Zomi Christian Fellowship. ZCF Delhi is the oldest Zomi Christian Fellowship in the world.
The real kicked off began with ‘praise and worship’ led by the Youth Department (YD) who had captured all the eye-balls of the church goers. After singing spiritual songs and delightful hymns, ZCFD chairman Swan Za Lian addressed the gathering: “Today is a big day for all us. We are happy to see each and everyone coming together here in this church once in a year. We warmly welcome you. We all are a part and parcel of Zomi Christian Fellowship.”
In showing ‘love and brotherhood in Christ’, the chairman introduced members from various churches/fellowships. It’s a great moment of recognition of faces or persons after many years.
Many surprised hearing a group of Meiteis from Manipur Christian Fellowship, Delhi will present their song. They sang a beautiful Meitei song which says, “O missionary where are you now, the world is waiting for you”.
A group of handsome boys and beautiful girls collectively known as ‘Youth’ (YD) present their chorus, making the day more special. The song praises the Almighty and enlightens the devotees.
A time has come for the new pastor. At 2.35 pm, Rev. Jangkholun Mangte began his first-ever sermon with reading passages from Philippians 3:13-16 and I Samuel 13:8. Then he prayed to God and asked blessings for the congregation. Before the sermon actually began the pastor requested everyone to stood up and gave a short massage on other’s shoulder, as a sign of relax, refresh and fun. Everyone beams out with a smile.
In his sermon, Rev Mangte, said: “We must run for our goal until we achieve. To achieve our goal is important in our life. We need spiritual strength to maintain a true Christian life. The words of God should be our guiding principle. Our faith should not be weaned out by worldly things. Our faith is the true faith that rooted from our Lord Jesus Christ. Without faith we can’t achieve our goal. Faith sustains our life and save us from the evils”. His sermon ended by 3.10 pm.
ZCF Sunday School Children showcased their talents. They are too young. However, the children’s ability marveled this large gathering of people. Behind the children’s talent, the teachers Miss Haute, Mr. Kappi and others needed appreciation for shaping the minds of little kids in the right path.
Then came up the members of MELC Delhi to give their best. Just before they began, their young secretary Mr Bruce expressed: “We are grateful for this opportunity. We are the youngest daughters of ZCF. We came here to present a song on our mom’s 29th birthday. We are not good singers, but we’ll ‘do and risk’ our song! On March 6 we will celebrate our 2nd anniversary, now we are hereby inviting everyone presence here”. A great explosive laughs burst out!
After MELC Delhi, Vikaspuri Zomi Christian Fellowship (VZCF) presents their beautiful song. That was the hour the Ushers gathered the offerings. Upa T. Ginsuanthang (elder, MELC) blessed the offerings of the day.
ZCF Angels, a band of young lovely girls, performed the eye-catching ‘choreography’. Singers Mr Joseph Samte, Mr Kappi, Miss Chiching and Mr Mimin belted out a variety of soulful songs.
Towards the end, Shri Khakhai Zou compiled the needful ‘vote of thanks’. The thanksgiving gradually came to an end like a whirlwind. The prayer of pastor T. K. Lian, Vikaspuri ZCF ended the day sweetly.
Everyone was seen busy in greetings friends and dear ones. For some it’s after many years. Enjoying the ‘lunch’ and chatting with friends recollects those sweet memories of the past. The religious joy never ends. Our church may vary, will our heart be?
